400 Ton Container Scrap Shear Shipped to a Scrap Recycling Company in Switzerland

We are pleased to announce the successful shipment of a 400 Ton Container Scrap Shear to a professional scrap metal recycling company in Switzerland. The machine has completed production, testing, and final inspection at WANSHIDA and is now on its way to the customer’s facility, where it will soon be put into operation for daily scrap processing.

Project Background

The customer is an established scrap metal recycling company in Switzerland, mainly engaged in the collection, sorting, processing, and recycling of ferrous scrap.

For scrap recycling companies, oversized and irregular metal scrap can create several challenges during storage, transportation, and further processing. Long steel sections, structural scrap, demolition metal, and mixed heavy scrap often need to be reduced to a more manageable size before they can be efficiently transported or supplied to steel mills and foundries.

After evaluating the customer’s processing requirements and operating conditions, we recommended a 400 Ton Container Scrap Shear as a practical solution for their recycling yard.

Why Scrap Processing Efficiency Matters in Switzerland

Switzerland has a highly developed waste management and recycling system. Scrap iron, steel, aluminum, copper, and other metals are separately collected, sorted, processed, and returned to the material cycle. According to the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment, metal waste from industry and households is collected separately and processed for reuse in steelworks and metal-processing facilities.

At the same time, Switzerland continues to promote a circular economy in which materials remain in productive use for as long as possible. For scrap recycling companies, this creates a strong need for efficient equipment capable of processing recyclable metals safely and consistently.

With relatively high labor costs and strict requirements for recycling operations, improving the automation and efficiency of scrap preparation is especially important for local recycling companies.

The Solution: 400 Ton Container Scrap Shear

For this project, WANSHIDA supplied one 400 Ton Container Scrap Shear, designed for processing different types of medium and heavy ferrous scrap.

The container-style structure allows scrap to be conveniently loaded into the chamber before compression and shearing. Hydraulic compression helps control loose and irregular material, while the powerful cutting system reduces oversized scrap into shorter, more manageable pieces.

The machine is suitable for processing materials such as:

  • Structural steel scrap
  • Steel plates and profiles
  • Pipes and sections
  • Demolition scrap
  • Industrial steel waste
  • Mixed ferrous scrap

With a 400-ton cutting force, the machine provides the customer with a strong balance between processing capacity, operating efficiency, and equipment investment.

Improving Scrap Yard Operations

Once installed at the customer’s recycling facility in Switzerland, the new container scrap shear will become an important part of their scrap preparation process.

By reducing bulky scrap into suitable sizes, the machine can help the customer:

Improve material handling efficiency
Smaller and more uniform scrap pieces are easier to move, sort, stock, and feed into subsequent processing equipment.

Reduce transportation volume
Properly processed scrap can make better use of available storage and transportation space.

Reduce dependence on manual cutting
Hydraulic shearing provides a more efficient solution for handling large quantities of scrap compared with extensive manual cutting operations.

Prepare scrap for downstream recycling
Processed material can be supplied more efficiently to steel mills, foundries, or other metal recycling facilities.

Improve overall recycling yard productivity
Combining compression and shearing in one machine helps simplify the scrap preparation process.

Factory Testing Before Shipment

Before shipment, the 400 Ton Container Scrap Shear underwent assembly, hydraulic system testing, electrical inspection, and trial operation at our factory.

Our technical team checked the main operating functions to ensure that the machine met the agreed technical requirements before delivery.

The equipment has now been successfully shipped to Switzerland and will soon arrive at the customer’s recycling facility for installation and operation.

Another WANSHIDA Scrap Recycling Project in Europe

The delivery of this 400 Ton Container Scrap Shear to Switzerland represents another successful WANSHIDA project in the European scrap recycling market.

Different recycling yards face different challenges depending on scrap type, processing volume, available space, local operating conditions, and downstream requirements. For this reason, WANSHIDA provides customized scrap processing solutions rather than simply recommending equipment based on cutting force alone.

Our product range includes:

  • Container Scrap Shears
  • Hydraulic Scrap Metal Balers
  • Gantry Shears
  • Alligator Shears
  • Metal Briquetting Presses
  • Heavy-Duty Scrap Processing Systems

With decades of experience in hydraulic recycling machinery, WANSHIDA continues to provide equipment and technical solutions for scrap metal recyclers around the world.

The 400 Ton Container Scrap Shear shipped to Switzerland is now ready for its next stage — installation and daily operation at the customer’s scrap yard.

We look forward to seeing the machine contribute to more efficient scrap processing and material recycling in the Swiss market.
